Detox diet – Don’t use it for weight loss purpose

Detox diet is not something new. It had been use in eastern country for century to cleanse one’s body. Detox diet promise to flush toxin from food and environment out of our body. We will also lose weight, drop cholesterol and improve immune system. However, detox diet are rather used for weight loss than cleaning our body. After celebrity like Gwyneth Paltrow (macrobiotic diet), Angelina Jolie (sugar free and steam veggie), Kate Moss (Dr. Joshi’s Holistic Detox) and Beyonce Knowles (master cleanser) swears detox diet work, everyone wants to try it desperately.

Most detox diet plan are very strict. You need to follow every single detail or you will put your health in danger. Usually those diet contain raw fruit /vegetable, herbal supplement and lot and lots of water. Also, there are different cleanse product selling in health store like GNC. There will be a lot of fasting going on during the diet. After the diet, it usually takes 1 – 2 for your body to get use to normal food again. You will drink a lot of water to flush those toxin out of your body. You are not allow to drink alcohol, smoke cigarette, eat processed food and consume sugar. Some people actually quit those bad habit during the diet.
There are a lot of suffering during the diet. You will not be able to eat out. Also hunger, fatigue, irritability, headache, bad breath and increased body odor are some of the side effect. It is better for you to take day off from work because some people faint because they became too weak.
Most doctor agree that detox diet is not a good way to lose weight. Also, we have our kidney and liver to clean out any waste in our body, so extra detox is not necessary. Because of lack of calories and nutrition, your body mass and metabolism decrease. If you have heart problem or diabetes, you shouldn’t try these diets because it will affect your blood sugar level.

      Yeah, the detox diet makes me think of Lindsay Lohan and not wanting to eat. Remember when she was anorexic… That was disgusting. Maybe the media made her look worst, but she was skinny as a stick.

      Yup I agree! Most detox diet plan are very strict…there are many weight loss method available in the market to choose from…

      when detoxifying the body, i find it much better to use natural products rather than those synthetic detox products. that is why i always go after the natural detox way. but for convenience. those commercial detox kits are pretty much better..

      Detox diets do not contain all the nutrients our body needs. People who go to the detox diet often suffer symptoms such as fatigue and general malaise have headaches. Detox diets were created with the main purpose of freeing the body of stored toxins and not for the purpose of losing weight. The fasting days along with a healthy diet will also help get rid of some excess weight. This can be also turned against the weight-loss process, as the weight will usually come back when you return to the old eating habits but more fasting will reduce the risk of depleting the body of essential nutrients. My Personal Trainer strictly advised me not to use detox diet for weight loss.
