Fat guy with hot wife
What’s wrong with those writers of family sitcoms? Turn on your TV. And you will see that almost every single show features a below average dumb fat guy with an intelligent hot wife. I know that there has always been a mismatch between couples on TV shows. However, the gap is getting bigger and bigger.
When was the last time you seen something like this? For me, never! Unless the fat guy is filthy rich, he gets what he deserved. These sitcoms are giving people wrong impressions that it is ok to be fat and unattractive; these TV couples are fat men’s fantasies.
Yea, it is fun to watch the immature fat guy mess up everything and the hot wife fixes it with a finger snap. However, this is not real and the trend should be stopped.

Viva la Bam – Phil and April Margera (I know they are real couple. However it is still not fair. April was hot when she was younger. It is just not fair for a fat guy like me who hasn’t been laid for two years).

Amen. I have said probably the same words, I’m very glad you put this up on the web. Even if it was just to release frustration on your part. There are plenty of things that sicken me about TV, and that’s why I rarely watch it.. but I do know what you mean, and it’s one of the MANY things that make our gender look so bad and no wonder so many people dishonor marriage and/or the husbands role in it…

They make these shows show that fat guys will get hot wifes so that people don’t have a distorted picture of reality. That being thin is everything and being fat will make you unpopular and unhappy. They’re just trying to do the opposite.

I think this one of the problem America is having. The have way too much encourage from others
Kid fail in school and teacher give them positive comment because they think kid need “encouragement” to grow. This make kid confuse about if they are doing good or not. Kids don’t realize they are not doing as good as the can because everyone is complimenting them. Kid are thinking they are ok to fail.
Is fat a sin? No..but are fat guy utilizing their body fully? No. Many study prove that over weight person increase performance in different task after they loss weight.
IMO it is better to tell them the cruel truth than giving them like to make the fat guy feel good

Personally, I think it’s inordinately sexist. It’s saying that even if you’re dumb (most of them are), and immature (all of them are), and physically far from the “desirable”, beautiful women will still like you and play enabler for you and cover up your mistakes.
Here’s a question–when was the last time you saw a fat women with an attractive husband?

TV sitcoms are contrived to include cast members that make viewers comfortable. So if these shows make the proverbial middleaged, dumpy guy look like he can “score” the proverbial “hot babe” for a wife then chances are the “middleaged, dumpy guys” out there will tune in if no other reason than to fantasize about having a great house and a hot wife. Of course casting in sitcoms and dramas are way off base and , in my opinion, do more to PUSH stereotypes than to dispell them.
One notes that in the long running show ER that the writers ALWAYS pair the asian women with an african american love interests. Does this happen in real life ? You bet it does (I would know) but the writers of that show make it seem like an exclusive siutation from which there are no deviations.

Sorry didn’t get to finish my last statement. Anyway I’ve dated guys of many
ethnic backgrounds but from watching ER they make it seem that ALL asian women date only african american men. This is narrow minded and presents a limited view of diversity.

Err okay its actually Grey’s Anatomy but same thing. ER and Gray’s Anatomy force a stereotype of asian women with african american men. Its like those studios feel that by doing this that they show how openminded they are when it shows how unimaginative and limited in thinking they are when it comes to dealing with relationships relative to minorities.

being fat and unnattractive are seperate….i.e I can still be fat and attractive since being atractivenes is based upon the views of outsiders…so if there is a person who find fat attractive makes fat guys attractive……
fat is still fat.
also the reason the put the TV with hot chic and fat gut is because its a rare thing and we will keep asking ourselves every episode “why is she with him” and they always keep telling us the answer ” I love him”.

This is actually very common in the town I live in. I live in new jersey and I have found many hot woman dating overweight men. Thats not all that is crazy, I also see them dating very ugly looking men. During high school you will always see the “hot girls”with “hot guys” but when in college and on further its usually the other way around for some reason…. Personally I think woman just have too low self esteem and settle for anything lol.

Most of the people on this board are such morons. When you first meet someone looks are very important. Then when a couple is together personality matter most. Some people don’t stay fat forever and some people don’t stay skinner together. After reading the comments here I see why the divorce rate is so high. You mean to tell me that if you’re an attractive woman and you met an attractive man and then 5 years into your relationship he gains 40lbs. You’re going to dump him? I’m married and my wife is getting older maybe I should dump her as well. Anyway fat men can have thin wives and vise versa. When you are together it’s about personality, which most of the people here have none.
