How Dairy Can Help Weight Loss?
Dairy products are a part of most people’s diet today. People consume fat free or low fat milk, yogurt, cottage cheese and cheese in their day to day lives; and these are all dairy products. It was once thought that dairy products induce weight gain. However, researches have proven today that dairy products tend to help in weight loss.
Through this research, it has been found out that dairy products have some substances, including calcium that helps in regulating weight loss. With the introduction of dairy products into a low calorie diet, it has been found that a person can lose more weight than following a low calorie diet with little or no dairy products in the diet at all. Of course, too much of dairy products in the diet are not advisable as it can instead lead to increase in the weight of a person.
Instead of eating dairy products only in one meal, it is better to distribute the calcium intake for your body into three or four daily servings through low fat dairy products. This distribution of dairy products helps in the fat burning machinery of the body. However, the important thing is that you should consume low fat dairy food products and not high fat dairy products as it will induce obesity in a person.
The actual process wherein dairy products help in reduction of weight is the calcium that is stored in the fat cells of the body. This calcium regulates how fat is stored in the body, and in the breaking down of fat in the body. And with this deduction, it is presumed that the more calcium there is in the fat cell the more fat it will burn. This is why it is advised to have a diet with as much low dairy products in it as possible.
Though it may be possible to add calcium to the daily diet through calcium supplements, the results are better if dairy products are consumed for your daily calcium dosage. It has also been found that calcium in the form of dairy products tend to give minute increase to thermo genesis, which is the core body temperature, than trying to add calcium to the diet through calcium supplements.
When on a diet, many people tend to eliminate dairy products from the diet, thinking that they are high in fat and will not help them in reducing weight. However, it has been found that those who follow a calorie reduced diet don’t actually lose weight as quickly as they wish they should. Since their bodies starve, they hang to energy and fat longer. So instead of completely eliminating dairy products from the diet, it is better to substitute high fat dairy products with low fat dairy products like fat free or low fat milk, yogurt, cottage cheese and cheese in their day to day lives to experience some weight loss.
