How Peanut Butter and other lean meats can help weight loss
Peanut butter is something practically everyone eats in their childhood. In fact, peanut butter is so addictive, that many adults too love peanut butter. However, nowadays, people usually avoid peanut butter because of the weight gain it brings. This is because a regular serving of peanut butter gives sixteen grams of fat, and about 200 calories. It is mostly the people who are on the obese side, and want to reduce weight that tend to avoid peanut butter. However, it has been proven that peanut butter is actually an effective means of weight loss.
It has been proven that peanut butter helps to control hunger without much weight gain. This is mainly due to the fact that peanut butter is a food that gives a feeling of satiety on consuming it. So if you have a craving to eat food, the best snack is a snack of peanut butter on bread as it satisfies all your cravings. This helps in curbing your appetite, and prevents over-eating and helps in weight loss.
In fact, according to research, it has been found that obese people who snacked on peanuts and peanut butter automatically adjusted their caloric intake so that they did not add any extra calories to their diets. This was mainly because after consuming peanut butter, they found that their hunger gets reduced for two and a half hours. However, on snacking on other snacks like rice cakes, they found that they get hungry within half an hour of its consumption!
Peanut butter is a food stuff that has both proteins and fiber in it. In fact, it has about six grams of protein and two grams of fiber in an ounce of peanuts. And it is this proteins and fiber that helps in providing satiety in your diet, and thus helps you in reducing your weight. In addition to this, the protein in peanut butter and lean meats are very important for the growth of muscles in the body, produce hormones and in boosting the immune system.
The main reason peanut butter helps in controlling hunger in you is that peanuts have a low glycaemic index; of about 14. With a low glycaemic index, peanuts break down slowly to produce a rise and fall in blood glucose. With this slow release of glucose into the blood, the longer will you maintain energy levels in the body to give a feeling of fullness and satiety for a longer time.
So it is seen that peanut butter can greatly help in reducing weight. The presence of leucine, along with the essential amino acids in lean meats also helps in reduction of weight. This is because leucine is the basis of high protein diet that is important in the synthesis of muscle protein. With an increased intake of lean meats, and the reduction in the consumption of complex carbohydrates only helps in the burning of body fat and in controlling your hunger and food cravings. This itself helps in weight loss.
