Second lunch 0909 sausage supreme omelet croissant
Around 2:00 I was in Jamaica on the way to my aunt‘s house. I feel hungry again at that time. I have two choice, Chinese to go store or Dunkin Donut. I went straight to Dunkin Donut and order their new Sausage Supreme Omelet. I kind of made a bad choice because sausage is high in saturated fat. And you need quite a lot of oil to make scramble egg. I asked for a whole wheat bagel instead of the plain one. The bagel tastes really good. However, it is so bad for my health. According to Dunkin Donut’s nutrition fact sheet, a sausage supreme omelet croissant contains 590 calories, and more than half of it, 340 calories is from fat!!!
After I read the nutrition fact sheet, whole wheat bagel beat croissant so much. First of all, even both bagel and croissant has 330 calories, the calories from fat is another story. Croissant contains 18 grams of total fat, including 4.5g of Saturated Fat and 7g Trans Fat , which create 170 calories. The whole wheat bagel on has 4 gram of total fat with 1 gram of Saturated fat. However, bagel contains higher sodium and Crabs than croissant. Here comes the tide breaker, bagel contains higher fiber (4g compare to none) and protein (12 g vs 5g) It is safe to say croissant is much close than junk food. And the bagel contains much more nutrition that can improve your health.
Next time when you go to Dunkin Donut, remember to ask for a whole wheat bagel. It might not taste as good as croissant because it has let oil in it. Ask the guy to toast your bagel, it will bring out the taste of the bagel
