With the health revolution an ongoing battle, health-conscious individuals are looking more and more to herbs and their antioxidant-rich derivatives for a natural immunity boost. Antioxidants like epigallocatechin gallate (just try saying that 10 times fast!), or EGCG, sometimes contain up to 200 times the power found in vitamins C and E. Studies confirm that these free radical-fighters help combat everything from cancer and high cholesterol to the effects of aging.
Bearing this in mind, many make green tea extract their piece de resistance in the war for good health. The antioxidants in green tea extract – an EGCG-rich herb derivative – detoxify the body’s free radicals, which are often found to contribute to a variety of potentially fatal progressive illnesses as well as respiratory and digestive infections. People are known to use green tea extract to prevent or reduce the risk of the following, and then some, making it a veritable herbal jack-of-all-trades:
Cancer
Cardiovascular disease
Dementia and mental illness
Dental plaque and the erosion of tooth enamel
Heart disease
Heightened blood levels
Heightened sugar levels
High cholesterol
Liver disease and failure
Rheumatoid arthritis
Green tea extract doesn’t appear to stop with the prevention of life-threatening illnesses. Scientists have found that green tea extract benefits extend to even weight loss, an added incentive for those caught up in a proverbial battle against the bulge. Green tea extract is a commonplace ingredient in many metabolizing agents, making it an efficient, fat-burning herb that acts without increasing the heart rate – a useful and natural alternative to expensive protein shakes that might leave gym rats with an unwelcome aftertaste.
The list continues, with green tea extract benefits including the taste for caffeine that we need for the workday and workout alike. Many people who consume exorbitant amounts of coffee for energy gladly exchange their dark brew for green tea extract in liquid form. It isn’t an unusual practice; brewing green tea extract is a tradition in China to this day. It follows that if you can’t take the word of numerous academic studies and publications, take it from an entire civilization: green tea extract works for the body, mind, and some might say, the soul.
A derivative of the plant Camellia sinensis, green tea extract is sold in both capsule and liquid form, giving flexibility to the must-need health-a-holic and making this ancient herbal derivative a useful weapon in the battle for better health.
Green tea prevents the growth of cancer cells. The secret of green tea lies in the fact it is rich in catechin polyphenols, particularly epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG). EGCG is a powerful anti-oxidant.
Just want to ask, shall we drink the green tea extract everyday? And is it 100% effective for us having diet?
I have been taking green tea extract for a couple of months and I really feel the difference. I have more energy and it has helped me to shed some extra pounds.
Thanks for poasting such a great post… never thought green tea is that good…
You are correct, green tea is one of the most beneficial things you can consume. You’re also correct to point out that most of the health benefits from green tea come from EGCG. I read an article somewhere that researchers from the Mayo Clinic are looking at using this compound to fight cancer. Pretty interesting stuff! Maybe they will start giving cancer patients green tea all day haha. I’m not really sure if green tea extracts have the same health benefits that regular green tea has. If I had the choice, I would pick regular green tea over green tea extract any day when it comes to health benefits. I just feel like the natural stuff is much better than anything processed. For anyone that’s trying to improve their health, I’d start drinking green tea every day. I recently got one of those tea warmer things that keeps the water warm for you. It’s much better than putting water in the microwave :) Anyway nice post :)
